We know what buyers want in a local area
In a study conducted by the Long Live The Local campaign (who of course have a bias in the information you are about to read), it turns out 52% of respondents say having a “good local pub” in the local area is a top priority when looking for a new house.
23% of respondents said a pub was the number one priority of all the local amenities they consider when looking for a new property. There was also 39% of respondents saying a local pub is more crucial than gyms, a place of worship and local schools.
It probably goes without saying that many British people consider a pub to be a key component of a local community, and 74% of respondents said this. The study also says 42% of respondents have looked at local house prices after spending time in a pub they enjoyed.
Other key findings from the study indicate:
- 43% of prospective homeowners and renters visit the local pub to get a feel for the area’s atmosphere.
- 53% say that local pubs help them feel less lonely and isolated.
- 74% of the public report that pub closures have negatively impacted their mental health.
